A Letter to Our Partners

A faithful response

Scripture shows us what a faithful 'yes' to God's call can do through ordinary people. It matters. Nehemiah is one such hero of the faith whose life vividly represents the power of a faithful response to God. He did not build alone. God placed it on the hearts of kings, communities, and ordinary people to join him—and together, they built something that stood as a sign of God’s faithfulness to a people who had lost hope.

In 2025, you were that kind of partner to us. You stepped in, faithfully locking arms with Wellspring in financial partnership, in prayer, and in giving your time to further the vision God has entrusted to us. Now, we get to share what God did with your faithfulness:

This report is only a glimpse of all God has done this past year!

He continues to open doors and clarify the vision before us. We move forward with confidence in God’s gracious leading. In 2026, we are energized to build more entry points to the ministry like the book and podcast, to release new resources for alumni, to equip facilitators to lead Wholehearted Living groups, and to invite more people into a deeper connection with God, themselves, and one another.

Truly, we are in awe of God's goodness! My prayer, as you read, is that you experience the deep satisfaction of faithfulness and the quiet joy of hearing, “well done.”

So, we remain steadfastly anchored with you in His Word from Hebrews 12:1-2a

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.”

Discipleship Pathway

The Pathway Takes Shape

How Wellspring is building more entry points so that more people can experience wholehearted transformation—and the role alumni play in opening those doors.

For nearly twenty years, alumni have longed for the people they love to experience the same life-changing transformation God brought about through their own Battle for the Heart journeys. Yet many have felt the barriers of inviting someone to set aside a weekend, spend money, or travel from far away.

We hear you. For those new to Wellspring, a retreat can feel like a big first step.

Over the past year, we have marveled at how God has opened doors to broaden our reach through Wellspring Group’s wholehearted pathway: a gradual, multi-format discipleship journey that helps people move from first engagement to deep, sustained heart formation in community with God and others.

In 2025, that pathway reached its fullest expression yet.

i
The Podcast
A first listen, anywhere—the broadest front door.
ii
Becoming Wholehearted
The book—a new way to discover wholehearted living.
iii
Wholehearted Series
Three six-week guided studies for small groups.
iv
The Battle Retreats
A 10-month journey of deep, sustained formation.

Two New Front Doors

Becoming Wholehearted

Wellspring’s discipleship pathway creates an accessible beginning. Rather than asking people to start with a full retreat weekend, it invites them into meaningful growth through a simpler, more approachable format—helping them become more aware of their hearts and deepen their relationships with God and others.

Becoming Wholehearted. After years of development sustained by your prayer and partnership, Wellspring released its first book. Becoming Wholehearted does something the ministry has never been able to do before: it opens a new front door. People who haven’t been to a retreat can now discover wholehearted living through a bookstore, a friend's recommendation, or a church book club, and begin to explore deeper heart connections to God, themselves, and others.

The book speaks to a struggle many Christians know well. Larry summed it up in a podcast interview about why he and Anisa wrote the book:

“It isn’t knowledge about truth that changes us. Change happens when we come to know it in our whole heart.”

Despite encountering biblical truth, going to church, and genuinely desiring to love well, people can still feel disconnected, stuck, or unable to live out what they most long for. Becoming Wholehearted names that gap, then walks readers through the hidden beliefs, unmet desires, and protective patterns that keep God's love from being a lived reality. It does not offer quick fixes. It invites readers into the slow work of healing, self-awareness, and intimacy with God and others.

0
In its first two weeks, Becoming Wholehearted sold 400+ copies and the first reader reviews are coming in. One reader expressed it this way:
“If you long to answer the deepest questions of your heart and experience the fullness of life you were created for, this book is a trustworthy guide.”

Many of the people picking up the book have never heard of Wellspring. Some will keep going into the Wholehearted Series and beyond. Others will hand the book to a friend. This is the pathway lived out!

Two New Front Doors

The Wholehearted Way Podcast

The Wholehearted Way Podcast. In February 2026, Wellspring launched its first podcast, The Wholehearted Way. Within its first months it has reached listeners in 25 countries and 27 states. That is the broadest geographic reach Wellspring has ever had. Your partnership made the launch possible!

The podcast does what Wellspring has always done well. Each episode is an honest, authentic conversation about living wholeheartedly. The kind of conversation that historically only happened in a retreat room or a small group now reaches a listener on a commute, on a walk, or in their kitchen.

The intimacy of the medium is showing up in how listeners respond. One listener recently shared:

“It keeps spurring me on in heart work. Knowing I’m not alone in this battle, I feel connected to a larger community of people doing the same thing I am. It encourages me to share this work and invite people into it.”

— Michelle H., podcast listener

To date, the podcast has published 11 episodes and crossed 46,000 views on YouTube. Each download and view represents a person becoming more aware and potentially more engaged in a wholehearted life.

The Pathway Deepens

Going further in

While these new “front doors” are a starting place, for some, it isn’t the destination. Many will keep going into the deeper experiences that Wellspring has to offer:

0
The Wholehearted Series
The Wholehearted Series - a collection of three six-week guided studies that give small group of friends an accessible entry point to wholehearted living. In 2025, we saw 677 people impacted through this experience.
0
The Battle Retreats
The Battle Retreats - our core 10 month spiritual formation journey is still holding strong. The Battle for the Heart saw 325 encounter transformation in 2025.

I sense that God is using this process to restore me into the man that He truly made me to be; a man free to be truly loved by God and His people, empowered to represent and reveal Jesus as I am further rooted into His love for me.

Alumni Opening Doors

One person opens a door for the next

Transformation doesn’t start with a program launch. It starts with one person opening a door for the next. Take a look at two alumni who are doing just this:

Jordan Barnes — North Carolina

Jordan Barnes didn’t set out to plant Wellspring in her North Carolina church. It happened through friendship. People kept coming to her with the same question: “How do you know how to ask these questions? I feel safe with you. I feel heard.” Her answer was the skills she’d developed through the Battle process.

She started sharing with her friend Melissa. Melissa was radically impacted and went back to her own circle. Other women followed. Several small groups have formed out of this relational credibility. Wellspring equipping accomplished.

Matt Armbruster - Pennsylvania

After going through Battle for the Heart, Matt became more aware of the human beings in front of him—employees, leaders, colleagues. When people shared something difficult, he responded in a way that helped them feel honored, valued, heard, and seen. Over time, those simple responses changed relationships. People opened up. Trust grew. Matt understood his team more clearly, and that helped him lead them more.

In a workplace culture where many people rarely feel truly heard, this stood out.

When turnover spiked across his company, Matt’s team had zero turnover. Leadership noticed. They began asking what was different and eventually created a new role for him focused on employee engagement and leadership development.

Since then, Matt has helped leaders learn simple practices of connection—like beginning one-on-ones with a brief “highlight and challenge,” creating peer connection groups, and teaching leaders how to respond when someone shares something hard. When he invited leaders into peer groups, he hoped a handful might say yes. More than 0 responded.

Matt’s story shows the reach of wholehearted living far beyond a retreat room. When one leader learns to see and honor the hearts of others, a workplace can begin to change.

This is the pathway at work!

Looking Ahead

Expanding the pathway

In 2026, Wellspring will continue to refine and expand the pathway so more people can access spiritual formation wherever they are.

We will strengthen The Wholehearted Way Podcast as a welcoming on-ramp for people who may not yet know Wellspring, then guide listeners into resources that help them practice wholehearted living. We will position the Wholehearted Series and Becoming Wholehearted as natural springboards into Battle for the Heart, creating a clear and approachable path from first engagement to deeper transformation.

Our vision is to meet people in everyday moments: a mother encouraged in the carpool line, a father reminded during lunch that he is not alone, a friend sharing an episode with someone hungry for more. Wellspring is poised to extend its reach, multiply access, and invite more people into wholehearted living than ever before. We believe Wellspring is on the cusp of something truly global.
