You're here to make a difference. Now what?
You long to step up, to make a difference in your world. You’re probably wearing yourself out trying to do this, feeling guilty that you can’t, and maybe getting close to giving up. But no one can change his world until he first changes his own heart. And that’s not easy. If you’ve learned the hard way that when you attempt major life changes – new job, new city, new ministry, new whatever – you’re still the same person relating in the same old ways, then good. You’re ready for the Wellspring Challenge.

What's the Wellspring Challenge?
It’s a realistic way to achieve sustained life change. It works, because instead of more goal-setting and trying harder, you discover how to dig down to the heart issues that impact every relationship you have. Instead of putting more on you (like another New Year’s resolution), the Wellspring Challenge calls out of you what God has already put in you, the man you long to be…and were created to be.

Here's how to think about it.
When the Bible speaks of your heart, it’s talking about the core of who you are: your thoughts, choices, feelings, and deepest desires. If you dig deep, you’ll get to a place of real heart change; and when you do, it’s like unblocking a fountain that affects every area of your life. That’s why Solomon told his son, “above all else guard your heart because it is the wellspring of life.” If you discover how to live deep, from your whole heart, in community…then everything changes.

Why is the Wellspring Challenge so effective?

  • It's a rigorous, demanding approach to discipleship. Real life change takes time, teaching, coaching, and practice. That's why the Wellspring Challenge is not a one-off mountaintop experience, but a true discipleship process that involves an ongoing experience of the truth of the Scripture, practical application, hands-on, heart-to-heart coaching, and true community. It's hard work. But it results in real, lasting transformation.
  • It digs below surface issues. This is huge. If you are trying hard, but not seeing the life change you really desire, then there's a good chance you're looking in the wrong place. Heart issues need to be addressed. Solomon called the heart a Wellspring of life. If it is shut off, life dries up. If it is polluted, everything in your life is affected. If it's flowing freely, you have abundant life. The Wellspring Challenge works so well because it digs beneath the surface to address the true heart issues you are facing.
  • When you think about the effectiveness of this process, there's another, even more important factor to consider: It represents a genuine dependence on the work of the Holy Spirit. This is not a self-help program. It's a process that leads people away from a dependence on themselves to a deeper intimacy and dependence on God. In John 7 Jesus described the Holy Spirit's work as a "river of living water" flowing from within. That's the wellspring of a whole heart redeemed by Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit.

What kind of outcomes can you reasonably expect?
Men who engage the Wellspring Challenge with honesty and authenticity consistently describe outcomes such as these:

  • Deeper intimacy with God – through His Spirit, Word, and the Body of Christ
  • Greater intimacy and wholeness in family relationships – engaging at a heart level with their wives and children
  • Increased personal holiness – breaking long-term sin patterns and learning how to confront the evil that hunts them
  • Improved relationships at work and church – knowing how to engage in strength and love
  • More fulfillment and freedom – as men who live from their whole heart and experience their part in God’s story

Change like this doesn’t happen overnight.
Everybody’s had those mountaintop experiences that fade when you get back to the real world.  The Wellspring Challenge is different. It involves two intensive events (one four-day and one three-day) followed by weekly meetings with other men on your team and daily encounters with God through the Scripture. It’s a rigorous, demanding experience that opens up your whole heart, gives you a clear path to change and connects you to The Fellowship that will walk with you into your part of God’s Larger Story. It’s a challenge.
