Wellspring Group
Seven years ago this summer I was beginning my graduate school program in Christian Counseling at Philadelphia Biblical University. Looking back I was in a critical phase of what I now call my chapter of brokenness from the summer of 2000 through the summer of 2004. It was a painfully profitable experience out of which came much of who we are and what we do as Wellspring Group. I will be forever grateful to the students and faculty that loved me well during those two intensive summers.
I remember toward the latter part of that summer crying out to God, not knowing what he wanted me to do, what was my next step. Out of the summer and into the fall, he slowly but surely led us to begin Wellspring Group. Seven years later, we stand amazed at his faithfulness and how far we've come.
One sign of that faithfulness is the launching of our new website, which this blog is part of. This website is a result of much growth and expanded opportunities for the ministry. We celebrate all of this as the faithfulness of a gracious and loving God. I am particularly grateful and humbled by his faithfulness through you, the men and women of Wellspring Group who long to lead the Body of Christ to live deep... from a whole heart... in community.
In the blog I will seek to live deep, from my whole heart sharing how I experience God, his body, and his word. To the extent possible in a virtual media, we hope this will be a community through your comments and questions. In a few months we will be launching a message board that will give participants, facilitators and church leaders opportunities to connect with each other.
This website represents the investment of many people. I'd like to express profound gratitude to a few of those. The Jethro Project is a $100,000 project to "multiply heart change to organizational leaders" and involves several key areas of development with this website being one of them. Perimeter Church of Atlanta, through the ministry of Kingdom Investments (KI), gave us an initial $25,000 matching grant for the Jethro Project. The Stan and Kay Walker Foundation of Atlanta matched part of the initial KI grant and gave an additional grant directly for our media/website development. Many individuals matched the first grant and we are currently in the process of matching the second grant.
Last fall we began an extensive branding process of which this site is just part of. Dustin Britt and John Bowles of Matchstic have worked with great patience and creative genius to bring us to this place. Their colleague, John Reed, did an outstanding job with the themes and the words you will read. My friend and our Administrator, Anisa Sumlar, worked tirelessly to bring this dream to fruition.
Most of all I want to thank all of you who are becoming the men and women God created and redeemed you to be for you are playing your part in his Story and you truly are Wellspring Group. It is a privilege to be part of your lives.
